Unione Sindacale di Base expresses its militant solidarity to cuban people, to the workers of Cuba and the Socialist Revolution, today under attack throught a fierce economic, political and financial war lead by USA imperialism and favored by Western governments.
Cuba’s status have to be framed in the core crisis of the global Capitalism, that manifest through the rise of disegualities, precarization of the work, the destruction of social rights and the growing resort to war – both militar ed economic – as an instrument of dominance. In this context, Cuba is hit not for the “not working part” but due to the still working efficiency it has outside the logic of the profit.
The block, economical,commercial, and financial imposed by USA since over 60 years ago represents a true and real aggression against the cuban working class, hitting salaries, material conditions, public welfare and fnational productions, aiming to bend the popular consensus and dismantle the conquests of the Revolution.
A clear example of the difference between the capitalistic and socialist system was during the pandemic of Covid-19 nin the year 2020. While in Italy, one of the most industrialized country, thousands of workers and elders died also due the decades of cuts to the public welfare, privatization and precarization dof medical jobs, Cuba – a small island forced to a block – have sent its own doctors to Italy.
Cuban doctors arrived in Lombardia, one of the richest and industrialized regions of Italy. This event unmasked all the western rethoric: a socialist country, hitted by sanctions, was able to do true internationalist solidarity, while developed capitalism showed the failure if its own medical and social system. This is not a symbolic gesture, but the result of a system that puts health and work before profit.
USB is against the propaganda that tries to picture the cuban workers as responsible og the difficulties from the outside. It is the imperialistic capitalism to create poverty, exploitment and death; it is the block to impede Cuba the access freely to markets, technologies and resources; it is political interference trying to break the unity of people, Country and workers unions.
Despite all, Cuba still defend a model founded on the centrality of work, on public welfare of strategic structures, on economical planning and universal warrantly of sanity, instruction and social welfare. An heritage built from collective work and people partecipation, cthat represents a class conquest and a model for all the workers of the world.
As a class trade union, indipendent and militant, USB considers the solidarity with Cuba an integral part of international struggle against neoliberism, imperialism and war, the same struggle that we conduct in workplaces against precariety, low wages, privatization and trade unions rights.
Due to thi USB asks:
· immediate and inconditional end of the economical block against Cuba;
· the removal of Cuba from the list of “terrorism sponsors”;
· the full respect of solidarity and selfdetermination of cuban people;
Defend Cuba means defend the rights of workers and peoples of a future against the logic of proficts.
USB calls all the union delegates, the workers, the social movements to transform Cuba solidarity solidarietà in real initiative: information and counterinformation on the block, public moments of confrontation, posts in front of institutional and diplomatic places, events in workplaces and territories. We must end the silence and the complicity of italian government and UE, build a public mobilization against sanctions and imperialistic interference. The defence of Cuba is part of the fight against war, exploitment and dismantlement of social rights: a battle in direct regards of the working class of our countries.
Cuba is not alone.
The international working class wont’ leave her alone.
