In ideal continuation with the International Day of Action of Trade Unions for Peace 2024 called by WFTU for next september 2024, which calls for a stop to wars, imperialist aggression and for the use of resources and assets investments instead in favor of the needs of peoples, USB of Trieste and Monfalcone, together with other pacifist and anti-militarist movements, call for Wednesday 4 September at 5.00 pm at the new one staircase on the Viale Oscar Cosulich side of the Valentinis Canal in Monfalcone, the northernmost point of the Mediterranean, a demonstration against arms trafficking from the Adriatic ports, in particular from the quay of the Monfalcone port of Portorosega, improperly used as a logistics platform towards the theaters of war, in violation of Law 185/’90, as well as constitutional provisions, which prohibit the export of war material to countries in a state of armed conflict.
USB of the Giuliano-Isonzo area, in continuity with the FSM, intensifies its fight for peace and strongly condemns the imperialist conflicts fueled by NATO throughout the world, calling for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the war in Ukraine, Yemen, Sudan and in all war zones in the Middle East and elsewhere.
We condemn genocide, ethnic cleansing and daily crimes conducted by Israel in Palestine, with the tolerance and defiant support of United States and European Union.
At the same time, as indicated by the FSM itself, the USB denounces the war economy, which produces the continuous increase of military expenditure which cause the detriment of peoples and workers, who constantly suffer the impact of rising prices, inflation and long-term austerity, further affecting the living standards of low-income families and popular classes.
Resources should be spent to satisfy needs basics of the people, in defense of the social state and wages, instead of allocating them to wars and bloodshed.
USB, therefore, supports the idea of a Mediterranean as a sea of Peace and friendship between peoples, together with the strengthening of global cooperation and the complete abolition of nuclear weapons, respect for the independence and sovereignty of all States.
This is also the internationalist message in favor of lasting peace, for a world free from imperialist interventions and the exploitation of man by man.
