The European Office of the WFTU strongly condemns the imperialist aggression of Israel and the US against Iran, which has been accused of developing nuclear weapons.
The whole world knows that Iran does not have nuclear weapons in its arsenal, whereas Israel has had them for some time and has always refused to submit to IAEA inspections. This has even been confirmed by US and other countries’ intelligence services. The false pretext of the anthrax vial that motivated the US attack on Iraq is being dramatically repeated.
European countries have immediately accepted the official version of events from Netanyahu and Trump, providing political and military complicity to the ongoing aggression. The next NATO meeting will result in an increase in each country’s defence and rearmament appropriations.The developments in this situation could have catastrophic consequences for humanity as a whole.
It is urgent and necessary that the international workers’ movement raises its voice against the military escalation, motivated solely by imperialist interests and the fragmentation born from the ashes of globalisation and US hegemony. This escalation is also driven by the neo-colonial race to control increasingly indispensable resources for the frenetic development of consumer goods and the military–industrial apparatus.
Eurof calls on all WFTU-affiliated organisations in Europe to organise demonstrations at US and NATO diplomatic missions, military bases, and Israeli embassies, demanding not only an immediate end to the aggression against Iran but also the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
