USB stands in solidarity with theStrike of ILWU Local 6 and thedockworkers of ILWU Local 10

USB and its Coordinamento Porti, representing dockworkers in several ports in Italy, expresses the full solidarity to the workers of ILWU Local 6, who have been on strike for several weeks at the C&H Sugar facilities in Crockett, California, as well as with the dockworkers of ILWU Local 10, who are standing firmly by their side.

The requests of C&H Sugar company to impose a poverty-level collective bargaining agreement, with cuts to healthcare coverage, overtime, leave and seniority rights to fuel their profit are unacceptable and absolutely right was the strike called form ILWU 6.

Faced with this determination, the company attempted to bypass the strike by moving the vessel “Tai Herald” to another terminal and employing a strikebreaking operation, but faced with the decision of ILWU 10 to unload the ship “Tai Herald”, full of “blood sugar” imported by C&H from negros island, proving in practice that solidarity is the workers’ most powerful weapon.

The news of the police raid in support of the strike-breakers and the subsequent arrest of 10 workers and trade union representatives must be met with a strong and concrete show of solidarity from all dockers’ unions around the world.

From Italy to the ports of California, the states and the governments, the United States and the European Union want workers divided and afraid, forced to bow their heads for the profits and wars of a handful of exploiters.

We respond to these attacks standing together, with solidarity, organization and class unity. Free all unionist and protester and hands off the strikers and the trade unions!

All our support to the struggles of ILWU 6 and ILWU 10!
