In recent days, the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) has passed a law that introduced the death penalty into the legal order of the State of Israel. According to this law, it can be enforced within 90 days on the basis of military court rulings. This is happening in the Israel’s social reality, where the conviction rate of Palestinians exceeds 96 per cent. The adopted legislation thus creates an instrument that risks legalizing the deliberate killing of prisoners, exposing hundreds to thousands of Palestinian prisoners to imminent danger of execution.
The Union of Palestinian Prisoners strongly condemns the passing of this law, because, in practice, it can send to death those who fight for the Palestinian State against the Israeli occupation and the genocide perpetrated against the Palestinian people.
The Trade Union Association of Bohemia, Moravia & Silesia presumes the legalization of the death penalty in Israel to be a step attacking human rights, being directed against the Palestinian people in particular.
That’s why we condemn this move by the Knesset, we condemn the occupation of the Palestinian territories as well as the genocide unleashed by Israel in the Gaza Strip. It is not permissible to tacitly ignore the subjugation of the Palestinian people and their suffering. We condemn Israel’s move to impose unprecedented repression at a time when it was involved to start another war in the Middle East against Iran.
We join our voices to calling on the international community, human rights institutions and organizations to stop urgently the implementation of this law. We stay deeply in solidarity with the Palestinian people!
Stop the death penalty against the Palestinians, stop the genocide against the Palestinians!
