A message condemning the US–Israel intervention in Iran was sent by workers and youth through their mobilization outside the US Embassy on Sunday morning, following a call by trade unions and mass organizations.
“No submission to imperialism – the only superpower is the peoples” and “No participation, no involvement – NATO and the Americans out” were among the slogans chanted by the demonstrators, while the PAME banner delivered the message: “They sow devastation in the Middle East. Greece out of the slaughterhouse.”
In the face of the danger of a wider imperialist war and the deepening involvement of our country, the responsibility and the need for peoples to come to the forefront and shape developments through their struggle is growing. Yesterday’s immediate response of the trade unions in our country shows the way.
A way out of this world in flames can and must be given by the people, demanding here and now: the closure of the Souda base and all NATO bases, the return of the frigate and the missile battery from the Middle East, and that no Greek soldier be deployed outside the country’s borders. This struggle must go all the way, strengthening the confrontation with the capitalist system that breeds war, rivalries, and exploitation, until it is overthrown.
