Solidarity with the People of Venezuela
No to Imperialist Interventions
The Pancyprian Federation of Labor PEO condemns the military attack and the bombings carried out by the United States against Venezuela, as well as the arrest of the country’s President, Nicolás Maduro, under the pretext of combating drug trafficking.
The US attack aims at the plundering of Venezuela’s vast natural resources, particularly its oil. This action is part of the broader framework of the revival of the Monroe Doctrine and constitutes a threat to the sovereignty and rights of the peoples of Latin America, as well as of the entire world, at a time when imperialist aggression is intensifying.
The bombings and the military escalation against Venezuela constitute an unprecedented and flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law.
PEO expresses its full solidarity with the people and the workers of Venezuela and with their right to freely decide their present and future.
The international community, and particularly the European Union, must unequivocally condemn this new intervention and actively defend international law, international legitimacy, and respect for the national sovereignty of all states, without threats or interventions.
