MILLIONS IN THE SQUARES AND STREETS OF ALL EUROPE: THE WORKING CLASS SPEAKS OUT!

Millions of workers are striking and demonstrating across Europe, filling the streets and squares with slogans in solidarity with the Palestinian people and against rearmament, the war economy, and the complicity of the European Union and European governments.

Strikes and demonstrations are taking place in France, Greece, Italy, England, Spain State and all European countries, with class-oriented trade unions affiliated to the World Federation of Trade Unions at the forefront.

The desire to stop the genocide of the Palestinian people and denounce the complicity and silence of the European Union and many European governments, which continue to maintain economic, institutional and commercial relations with the terrorist state of Israel, lies at the heart of the mobilisations.

With its invasion of Gaza City, Israel is attempting to finish the dirty work by definitively driving the Palestinians from their land, in order to turn the Gaza Strip into a tourist resort in a joint venture with Trump’s America.

Those taking to the streets are also confronted with the prospect of severe economic measures for the working class that European governments will enact through budget laws to establish a war economy. This involves shifting billions of euros from social spending to military spending, in obedience to the European Union’s directives to rearm and prioritise European defence.

In this devastating crisis that is bringing war back to Europe, it is our duty as class-oriented trade unions to prioritise the interests of workers.

The squares filling up in all countries show that the world of work is determined to play a leading role in the fight against imperialism and the attempt to solve the crisis of the capitalist mode of production through war by shifting the burden onto workers.
