The EUROF, the European regional office of the World Federation of Trade Unions, sends its warmest solidarity to the general strike called in the Valencian Country to protest against the disastrous management of the DANA and the terrible consequences it is having for the Valencian people.
Since 29 October, the people of Valencia have had an open wound, which cannot begin to heal until those responsible pay for their negligence. The main person responsible for what happened is clearly President Carlos Maz贸n, but that does not mean he was the only one, as the actions of employers also seriously endangered the health and lives of the working class, which in some cases had fatal consequences and in others has led to significant psychological effects.
The trade unions forming part of the World Federation of Trade Unions have been there from the very beginning, not only helping the population to face the situation, but also denouncing the actions of the president and employers, and demanding the investigation of those responsible.
The general strike called for 29 May, jointly organised by various trade unions in the Valencian Country, is a historic general strike, as it is the first time that a general strike has been called at the national level. The unions calling the strike are demanding criminal charges against those responsible for the deaths of workers, starting with President Maz贸n, and are also demanding compensation and justice for the victims of the DANA, the reversal of privatisations and the strengthening of public services, that those affected by the employment regulations resulting from the DANA receive 100% of their wages, the creation of unlimited paid leave for situations of weather alerts, the reduction of the working week to 32 hours or four days, wage increases and respect for the right to housing with controls on rent and sale prices, and the creation of a public housing stock.
For all these reasons, the European Regional Office of the World Federation of Trade Unions sends its full support and solidarity to the general strike on 29 May in the Valencian Country, hoping that it will be a great success, that it will mark a turning point in the country and that it will be a step forward in strengthening class-based trade unionism in the Valencian Country.
La EUROF, oficina regional europea de la Federaci贸n Sindical Mundial, env铆a toda su solidaridad a la huelga general convocada en el Pa铆s Valenci脿 para protestar por la nefasta gesti贸n de la DANA y las terribles consecuencias que est谩 teniendo para el pueblo valenciano.
Desde el pasado 29 de octubre el pueblo valenciano tiene una herida abierta, la cual no podr谩 empezar a sanar hasta que los responsables paguen por su negligencia. El principal responsable de los sucedido es evidente el Presidente Carlos Maz贸n, pero eso no quiere decir que sea el 煤nico, ya que la actuaci贸n de los empresarios tambi茅n puso en grave riesgo la salud y la vida de la clase trabajadora, que en algunos casos tuvo un desenlace fatal, y en otros casos ha derivado en importantes secuelas psicol贸gicas.
Los sindicatos que forman parte de la Federaci贸n Sindical Mundial han sido quienes desde el primer momento han estado, no solo ayudando a la poblaci贸n a hacer frente a la situaci贸n, sino tambi茅n denunciando la actuaci贸n del presidente y de los empresarios, as铆 como demandando que se depurasen las responsabilidades.
La convocatoria de huelga general del 29 de mayo, convocada conjuntamente por diferentes sindicatos del Pa铆s Valenci脿, es una huelga general hist贸rica, ya que es la primera vez que se convoca una huelga general a nivel de pa铆s. Los sindicatos convocantes exigen responsabilidades penales para los culpables de las muerte de trabajadores empezando por el Presidente Maz贸n, y exigen tambi茅n reparaci贸n y justicia para las v铆ctimas de la DANA, que se reviertan las privatizaciones y se refuercen los servicios p煤blicos, que los afectados por la regulaci贸n de empleo derivado de la DANA cobren el 100% del salario, creaci贸n de un permiso retribuido sin l铆mite de d铆as para situaciones de alerta meteorol贸gica, la reducci贸n de la jornada laboral a 32 horas o 4 d铆as semanales, mejoras salariales y que se respete el derecho a la vivienda con un control de precios de alquiler y de venta, con la creaci贸n de un parque p煤blico de vivienda de alquiler.
Por todo ello, desde la Oficina Regional Europea de la Federaci贸n Sindical Mundial enviamos todo nuestro apoyo y solidaridad con la huelga general del 29 de mayo en el Pa铆s Valenci脿, esperando que sea todo un 茅xito de convocatoria, que suponga un antes y un despu茅s en el pa铆s y que sea un impulso para el reforzamiento del sindicalismo nacional y de clase del Pa铆s Valenciano.
