Massive protest over the increased cost of living and the so-called green taxes
Pancyprian Federation of Labour (PEO) supported and participated in the massive mobilization organized by the people’s movement last Saturday, March 29th, in Nicosia over the increased cost of living and the so-called green taxes.
The participants marched from Eleftheria Square to the finance ministry, holding banners with slogans such as ‘Measures Now Against High Prices’ and ‘Green Taxes, a Bleak Future’.
During the mobilization, it was highlighted that 165,000 people in Cyprus currently face the risk of poverty and social exclusion, while 250,000 live on less than €1,100 per month.
PEO and the popular movement in Cyprus will relentlessly continue pressing the government and demanding measures for windfall taxes on banks, VAT reductions on electricity, and housing issues.
