STOP THE WAR NOW
For more than a year since the beginning of the genocide of the people of Palestine by the murderous state of Israel, the fire of war is in danger of spreading throughout the Middle East, with the peoples of the region as victims.
With the multiform support of the US-NATO-EU and the bourgeois governments of our countries, Israel has murdered more than 40,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Thousands more are now murdered by Israel and in Lebanon, and millions of refugees throughout the region.
At the same time, the State of Israel has been illegally occupying for decades the territories of Palestine, as well as territories in Syria and Lebanon, opening the gates of hell with attacks and interventions throughout the Middle East leading to a generalized conflict.
Trade unions all over the world fighting for workers’ rights in our countries, we could not remain silent in the face of this crime. We organized and led huge mobilisations, blockading companies, industries, ships producing or transporting war material for the murder of the Palestinian people.
In every way we expressed our practical solidarity, we stood on the right side of history, in the face of crime.
Political forces, “unions” or trade unionists who hid behind the imperialists’ propaganda and talked about “equal distances” or “Israel’s right to self-defense”, in practice acted and act as part of the Israeli propaganda that legitimizes the occupation and genocide.
Today, one year later, it is even more necessary to strengthen the struggle of the trade unions against those who support, finance or facilitate the war. This is a choice by our governments that costs tens of billions of dollars at the same time as our peoples face energy poverty, shortages in food etc, exploitation, low wages, exposure to pandemics and natural disasters. We will not tolerate it!
The trade unions signing this document declare our commitment to take new, more massive, more decisive initiatives of joint, local, national and international action to stop the slaughter.
In every country to strengthen the workers’ and people’s movement that will demand:
