The Trade Union Association of Bohemia, Moravia & Silesia (Czech Republic) expresses its respect and support for the workers and employees of Mediterranean ports who will become involved in strikes and blockades at ports throughout the Mediterranean region on October 30, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We view this International Day of Action\u2014involving port workers and dockers standing against war and militarization on October 30\u2014as a significant contribution from radical voices opposing the war-driven madness that has gripped not only Europe but the entire world. The fires of war in Palestine, Syria, the Middle East, Yemen, Africa, and Ukraine are manifestations of imperialist, neocolonial rapacity and ruthlessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wars bring death, suffering, displacement, poverty, and deteriorating living conditions. People and workers across the globe know that the vast resources channelled into war economy are being drained at the expense of the welfare state, education, healthcare, wages, pensions, and benefits for the working classes. Ruling elites and transnational corporations grow even wealthier through war, profiting from human suffering. Meanwhile, ordinary people are plunged into poverty, profound suffering, and hopelessness by these conflicts. Ruling elites and transnational financial and arms corporations deliberately exploit national, racial, and religious divisions to sow the seeds of war, subjugate territories and nations, and plunder their material and spiritual wealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an era marked by the rise of fascism, racism, and xenophobia\u2014a time witnessing the “normalization” of the genocide of the Palestinian and Cuban peoples, the criminal blockade of Cuba, soaring military expenditures, the imposition of a war economy, and preparations for another world war\u2014the only way out of the capitalist crisis lies in the determination of workers and other labourers to stand up, actively block these anti-people imperialist agendas, and fight against militarization and war. Without workers and other labourers, the production of armaments, the arming of forces, and the supply of imperialist armies would be impossible!<\/strong> This is a fact that must be recognized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We condemn the genocide of the Palestinian people by the State of Israel, the genocide of the Cuban people, the U.S. blockade of Cuba, the fires of war in the Middle East and Africa, and the imperialist war in Ukraine\u2014a conflict driven by the great powers’ struggle to redistribute spheres of influence and mineral wealth. We condemn both overt and covert support for fascism and racism.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Trade Union Association of Bohemia, Moravia & Silesia pays tribute to radical initiatives and the tireless struggles of workers\u2014along with their trade unions\u2014who clearly declare their refusal to allow their countries to participate in wars. They refuse to engage in the production, loading, or transport of weapons and military equipment, and they boycott any cooperation or facilitation related to active combat zones.
