The Trade Union Association of Bohemia, Moravia & Silesia unequivocally condemns the war preparations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the upcoming 36th NATO summit convened for July 7 and 8, 2026, in Ankara, Turkey. We condemn the authoritarian measures of Turkish government, and we express our deep solidarity with the trade unions of Turkey and other anti-imperialist forces in Turkey fighting against the holding of the NATO summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We disagree and unequivocally condemn the ingratiating but insignificant step of the Czech government, which on the one hand says that it does not want to increase direct military spending for Ukraine for the war with the Russian Federation, and, on the other hand, it is servilely giving in to NATO and accepting a commitment to increase military spending to 2% of GDP and subsequently to increase it further, although it is trying to cover this up with the \u201cclaim\u201d that this spending will go to the defence of Czech Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We condemn the repeated statements of President of Czech Republic calling for ever greater direct military support for Ukraine, efforts for greater involvement of the Czech Republic in the war in Ukraine and the war-making imperialist activities of NATO. The President of Czech Republic should represent the Czech Republic and defend its interests, not the interests of the European Union, NATO and other imperialist powers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We condemn the ridiculous theatre of speculation about a may-be-leader of the Czech Republic’s delegation to the NATO\u2019s 36th<\/sup> summit as the point is, in fact, how the issues of the real interests of the Czech Republic and peace would be defended, not preparations for further military aggression. The imperialist intention to spend $70 billion to support the war in Ukraine is not in the interests of the citizens of our country, nor in the interests of the inhabitants of other European countries, but is in the interests of arms conglomerates and world powers instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our previous conservative right-wing government actively and publicly supported the war effort of NATO, the European Union and world powers. The current liberal right-wing government supports these activities covertly and in other forms. There is no substantive difference between the intentions of these governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n OS \u010cMS reminds that the military budget, military obligations of the Czech Republic must be paid by citizens without distinction. However, a state that prioritizes armaments, is not able to adequately secure the social, health and pension systems in the long term, return the guarantee of guaranteed wages in the non-public sphere, limit inflation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Therefore, we reject preparations for war, strengthening military budgets and aggressive plans of NATO, the European Union and the USA!
