More than 250 cities in Greece and abroad, flooded with people’s sea of anger and demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participation in the general strike was absolute. More than 1.5 million people<\/strong> demonstrated in Greece (of total population of 11 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Millions of people demonstrated in an organized and determined manner. The images in the streets of Athens, Thessaloniki and all of Greece are unrepeatable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time the data showing absolute participation<\/strong> in the strike. Participation in Banks averaged 70-85%<\/p>\n\n\n\n Press and Paper<\/strong> -depending on the factory- 80-100%<\/p>\n\n\n\n Textile <\/strong>many factories recorded participation of 100%<\/p>\n\n\n\n Food-Drinks Industries<\/strong> -depending on the factory- 80-100%<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chemical and Pharmaceuticals Industries<\/strong> -depending on the factory- 80-100%<\/p>\n\n\n\n Public Education <\/strong>80-90%<\/p>\n\n\n\n Local Authorities <\/strong>70-85%<\/p>\n\n\n\n All Ministries<\/strong> closed down<\/p>\n\n\n\n The people in an organized way showed that they have no confidence in the government, the parties of the rotten system, the justice system and the institutions that serve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The message is deafening. No more of the policies that has turned our lives into a vast valley of Tempe. No tolerance, this crime will not be covered up. Those with political and criminal responsibility to be punished in an exemplary manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The struggle continues, even more massively and decisively. The people have the power to overthrow the system that kills for profit. We will fight to the end so that our children can live in a society that focuses on our needs and not on the profits of business groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Important was also the international solidarity with a number of delegations from unions from various countries<\/strong> participating in the Rally in Athens, while many organized events or protests of solidarity, sent messages etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the end of the great strike rally, the familiar theatre of \u201cincidents\u201d was staged, which the government is exploiting to pass a climate of fear and repression.
